Theme:  The purpose is that pupils produce a static charge by rubbing and observe the effect of static electricity on the butterfly’s wings.

Most matter is usually electrically neutral; it has the same number of electrons as protons. When matter somehow gets extra electrons and attaches them to the atom’s outer shell, then there is a negative charge. If a material loses electrons, it has extra positive charges. The excess of charges will then cause static electricity.
